I've recently developed a interest in the old web. I was born in 2007, which means I only got to experience the very tail end of the 2000s net. Since I spent, and still spend, a lot of time on YouTube, most of my memories of the time were in the form of music: Nyan Cat, nightcore classics like Every Time We Touch, Bad Boy, Angel with a Shotgun, etc etc. I love how personalized and homey the old web seems to be; its multitude of unique little websites with fun themes and cool stuff. Cycling through the same five social media apps does get boring after 5 or so years.
With the discovery of Neocities and Yesterweb (particularly Yesterlinks) the Internet feels genuinely exciting again. I'm finding so many resources and wells of knowledge and generally just cool websites. Is this how late 90s/early 2000s netizens felt when they went online for the first time? I think that's what the Internet should be. A resource of knowledge and place for connecting with other people. No algorithms or ads, just a place you can spend your time in.
I am a cat of many talents. I love to draw. 2D Illustration is what I've been doing the longest and what I'm best at. But! I also write. I love crafting stories and narratives and worldbuilding and lore. I'm a music producer, I play the violin and piano, a fantastic singer, a voice actress, and I'm learning to code HTML and C#!
I will be transforming this about page into an interactable web game where you chat with my fursona Kryztal, hence the name Kryztal's Room. It's still very much a work in progress, so you won't see it for a while.
